The MGF Register annual charity run took place in the Heart of England in 2007. An event in this area has been traditional with the club who for several years alternated between a HOE and Cotswolds Run - this year it was combined with the HOE being in the the Cotswolds !

With over 40 cars taking part from all parts of the country there was a large contingent who stayed over in the Holiday Inn Express and enjoyed dinner and suitable light refreshment in the Porridge Pot pub next door on the previous evening. This meant most of us were up bright and early and ready for the day ahead.

The Event organiser chooses the charity to be supported and this year Phil & Lorna chose the Parkinson's Disease Society with two thirds of the proceeds of the run going to that charity.

With cars gathered it was not long before Lorna gave the briefing and Phil waved the cars away as they set out on the first part of the run into the countryside surrounding Warwick. Through country lanes and pleasant villages the route wound its way to Broadway Tower high above the Cotswold village of Broadway itself. Some took advantage of the sunshine and picnicked even if it was a little breezy whilst others gathered in the cafe. A few F/TFs could be found parked on forecourts of local inns along the route whilst the owners sampled the lunchtime offers.

It was not long before it was time to set off again for Sudely Castle where we had the opportunity to walk around the gardens of the house and thread our way through the keyholes sprouting from the undergrowth. The gardens contained all manner of sculptures from a row of bright yellow coils to a "field" of fluorescent light bulbs set a little incongruously but with a sense of fun in the same grounds as the tomb of Catherine Parr, Henry VIIIs last wife. To add to the juxtaposed medieval atmosphere a group of appropriately attired singers serenaded us with madrigals in one of the small garden areas to round our day off.

Another fine Heart of England Run was over and it was time to set the Sat Nav to find our way out of the depths or Warwickshire - Thanks To Phil, Lorna , Steve and Keith for all their efforts on organising a great event.
