September 2003 The
translation is now available for Thomas Künzli's
entry for YA 7225 from the Swiss - hopefully we have
a fairly accurate version!
Following Steve Simmons thread on the BBS for car covers, I
have added Cover Systems to the Links page as they have
proven to be a very good reliable supplier who stand by their product.

September 2003 Please
welcome Thomas Künzli
with YA 7225 from Switzerland to
Ys on Parade. Thomas
filed his details in Swiss so I will translate them tomorrow
and post an English version too.

September 2003 Sad to
say there is another hoax Email doing the rounds. This one purports to be
from Microsoft and has a very genuine look to it except that is offers a link to
'the "September 2003, Cumulative Patch"
update which resolves all known security vulnerabilities affecting MS Internet
Explorer, MS Outlook and MS Outlook Express as well as three newly discovered
vulnerabilities' - would that it were true, but
like all things too good to be true - it is! If you receive it, delete it!
If you want to check out your Windows 98 and above installation you can do so by
going to the genuine Microsoft site at
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp then click on
Scan for Updates and Microsoft will
examine your PC for free (no information about your PC or other contents are
transmitted back to Microsoft) and it will then suggest a host of patch updates
for you to install. If you have Windows 95 or earlier, these are no longer
supported by Microsoft so you will not necessarily benefit from this.
The quick among you will also note that we have added three
"quick links" for Ys on Parade (direct to the individual pages) and also three
for the Reprints options. We are working on a new menu structure that will
facilitate a drop down box for these. If you wish to go to the summary
pages for these areas, please click on the button as before.

September 2003 This month's
Reprinted Article is taken from Practical
Classics, December 1984 and is a basic Buyer's Guide.
Also added to Collectibles is
an early BP Lubrication Chart for the YA/YT (see Manuals section), and also
details and a copy of the picture of the BEN Christmas Card (see Other section)
as mentioned on the Bulletin Board Thread from David Mullen and Neil Cairns.
Copies of the card can be obtained direct from the BEN website and there is a a
link on the item details to take you to their site. As it is also
artistic, it has also been added to the Artists Impressions
too.

September 2003 Added
today to the Book Review page is a complete set of
MG YA/YT, and MG YB, handbooks, parts lists, and workshop manuals (go to the
Reprinted Manuals and Handbooks bookmark). These have been reprinted from
original material and are good quality reproductions. If you do not
already have an original, one of these will stand you in good stead until you
do, and even if you already have an original, these will make excellent copies
for "in use" in the garage while on the job. Currently these are only
available through the MG Octagon Car Club - there is a link on both the Book
Review page and on the main Links page to them.
Also, yesterday, we had our 101st entry to the
guestbook! If you have not already posted an
entry to the guestbook we'd love to hear from you too so please file your entry.

September 2003 I was
asked at the recent committee meeting (in Ian's absence!) to add Ian
Hopkins' event boards to Artists Impressions - so I
have! Ian is our Graphic Designer and designs fabulous boards for Y Type
events - if asked!! He is very a very retiring sort, and will probably
kill us when he finds out what we have done, but we think they are great - so
there Ian!

September 2003 Andrew
Coulson has sent in a report on last month's "Why
to Exe 2", or Y2X2 as it has been called! Sounds like Dennis
Doubtfire has pulled off another fantastic weekend in the West Country and we
(webmaster and wife) sorry not to be able to attend due to a very last
minute change of plans.

September 2003 Please welcome Steve Simmons with
YB 1547 to
Ys on Parade. Steve's car was formerly owned
by Phil McKercher of Canada and now lives in Southern California. Steve
has updated the photograph and changed the dialogue on the car. Also
updated is the photo and dialogue on the webmaster's car
Y 5270 as work nears
completion.
Ken Jones alerted us in August 2003 to the fact that the MG
YT featured on a chocolate wrapper as part of a set of chocolates marketed by
the UK Past Times company. We have tracked down a pack - see
Collectibles, the chocolates were good too!
