The 15th Annual General Meeting of the MG Car Club Y Type Register has been announced and will take place on 1 April 2006 at 11:00 am in Kimber House. If you will be attending, please contact the Secretary so that the appropriate numbers of seats can be provided. Full details can be found on the Events page.

Also, under the Technical Centre menu option to the left, a new page has been set up for the very useful Jackall articles provided earlier this year by Andrew Coulson and Saul Duck.

Finally a new Hint and Tip on fitting Boot Hinges and ensuring you get them on the right side has been added to the Hints and Tips page.

Breaking news - the Spring Run 2006 will take place on Sunday 30 April and start from the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway HQ at Toddington, just to the north of Winchcombe. Regalia orders in advance please to David Hague as usual for collection on the day. The following day is a UK 'Bank' Holiday so there is no excuse for not coming down - make a lovely long weekend in the Cotswolds and book a hotel now. You can then take a leisurely journey back home on the Monday. More details coming soon on the Events page.

We have also added a Privacy Statement to the site in line with our continued commitment to excellence, and your protection. We are again indebted to Jack Murray for the fun artwork. Even if you are not interested in policies it is worth a look, just to admire the art. Thanks Jack!!

Northwest Classic has been suggested as a source for all those hard to get bits for among other things the rebuilding of the distributor (save fitting one from a 1275 mini which are getting hard to find). See the Hints and Tips page for details and the Links page too.

Also a new piece of Technical Advice on what to put in your shock absorbers has been added.

Another milestone that was passed yesterday was the 150th entry in our Guest book. Remember - it is your site!

Starting out with a slightly unpleasant matter, there is a seller on eBay selling copies of the MG Engine History file as a VERY RARE ITEM. This seller DOES NOT have the permission of either Neil Cairns or the MG Car Club Y Type Register to sell this item, much less reproduce it. It is being misleadingly described and is freely available as a download from this, and many other sites. The matter has been passed to eBay.co.uk for their investigation prior to possible action under the Trades Description Act. You are strongly advised NOT to buy it over eBay but download it for free from the side panel.

On a happier note, please welcome Alf Luckman (again - how many Ys can a man have? Answer never too many clearly!) and YT 3782 to Ys on Parade. Alf will need a lot of support getting this one back on the road, but I think he is definitely on the right track to do so!

An amusing little snippet found courtesy of the world wide web that goes to show you cant believe everything you see on it! It is a prime example of what can go wrong if you don't know your product and assume a computer can handle it! When searching on MG Y Type, one site asked "Not sure which MG to choose? Search by body type." It then proceeded to offer choices of "Convertible, Coupe," (and here was where the imagination was stretched) "Dual Cab, Hatchback, Liftback, Panel Van, People mover, Roadster" (OK back on reasonably safe turf now), "Sedan" (phew), "Targa" (oops here we go again), "Tray, Ute, Van, or Wagon". Needless to say everything returned Sorry, no matching records found for your search criteria, except Sedan, however, it stimulates a furtive imagination!

More relevant though was another link I found to the MG Car Club of South Australia where there are pictures of some 17 Ys and YTs - most of which do not seem to have narrative. If you recognise a friend's car there please check to see if it is already on our Ys on Parade listings and if not, please get them to register and enter it - on your computer if they don't have internet access.

Also, a new link has been added to the Links page of an MG YT at the Techno Classica show in Essen, Germany in 2004.

A new advert has arrived into the Reprinted Advertisements collection. You sometimes have to wonder about the wisdom of advertising and targeting your audience, its all about location. As Henry Ford is reputed to have said "50% of all advertising is bunk ... but which 50%?" Given where this advert was placed, Australian Women's Weekly, I wonder which of the Nuffield Group products shown resulted in more sales as a result of the advert?

Continuing the international theme of previous months, we have another foreign language article, this time from a French magazine, for Reprinted Articles! The English translation will again come in a few weeks time, so watch out!

Geoffrey Pace has also updated the photograph of Y 0865 in Ys on Parade following the completion of its restoration. Well done Geoffrey another lovely looking Y on the road again!

Roger Furneaux of Mad Metrics has also supplied a new and enhanced range of bolts etc. This can now be downloaded from his entry on the Links page in A4 page length or Letter page length as a PDF or from here.

Following a recent request on the Bulletin Board for information on a screw thread, Dave DuBois kindly set in tables he has compiled over recent years for fasteners, threads, torques and wrench (or spanner sizes for those who are not bi-lingual). They are also available from the Technical Centre front page.
