Miracles still
happen. Ted Evans sent me a great story of how he was reunited with his
former Y ... on the other side of the planet, such is the power of the Internet
and Ys on Parade when he located Y 7142 that he
had owned in the 1960s! His story has been added to
Stories from the Rear View Mirror.

Today I have received
an email from the Secretary of the MG Car Club Y Type Register, on behalf of the MG Car Club Y Type Register, confirming that
they do not wish to sell their Regalia, Accessories and other items via this
website. They have also confirmed that they no longer wish to have
anything to do with it, and will not engage in any cooperation with respect to
interchange of information on owners or their cars. This decision is a
shame for all those who are not members of the MG Car Club and one
that I hoped where common sense would have prevailed for them to continue working with
this site in the best interests of the MG Y owners worldwide. Their
reasons are that they "consider that it is inappropriate" for them to sell
through this site. I am sorry to have to advise you of this change, but at
the end of the day I have no option but to comply with their demand, albeit it
that I consider it to be the wrong thing to do. At the end of the day
though, each person has to make their own judgements and decisions - this is
clearly theirs. The Direct Links to Vendors page has been amended accordingly.

We are pleased to
announce the expansion of the International Representatives for the MG Y Type.
Please check out our Contact Us page for contact
details, but we now have Alf Luckman and Tony Slattery in Australia, Willem Van
Der Veer in the Netherlands and Europe, Scott Barrow for the Eastern USA, and
Wayne Musselman for the Western USA, Daman Thakore for India, and Masaaki
Sakaguchi for Japan. Further expansion of the International
Representatives will happen over the next few month's so watch this space!
Masaaki Sakaguchi
also does excellent hand rebuilds of Y distributors and YT Wiper motors and is
now added to the Vendor Direct Links page too.
If you need your distributor rebuilt, Masaaki even road tests his rebuilds on
his Y before shipping, and also does great work on the wiper motors for YTs too.
The
Guest Book has also been out of operation since the
beginning of the month. This has now been fixed too, so please feel free
to add your comments about the new site. We hope you like it.

A new
Picture of the Month has been added from
David Mullen. Also, a new
Reprinted Article, has been added from 1948 and the debut of the MG YT at
the Earls Court London, UK Motor Show of that year. This extract is from
the Autocar magazine guide to the show published on 29th October 1948.
We have also changed
the page layout so that instead of the buttons and main page being in "frames"
everything is now on the one page. This has a disadvantage in that if you
are half way down a page and "lose" the buttons you will have to scroll back up,
however, the advantage is that if someone is searching the internet for "MG Y
Type" and they locate any page, they will then be able to easily see the whole
site and learn more about these great little cars. There are some other
minor changes, but I believe they are for the "good of the order" and are
to the benefit of MG Y owners.
