Another interesting pair of Ys for "Y"s on Parade
today. Please welcome Bruce
Kennewell with Y 3095, and Gary Madrick with
YT 3285. Bruce's car is another
previously completely "unknown" car. By "unknown", we refer to the fact
that its whereabouts were not known to either the MG Car Club Y Type Register,
nor any other database of Ys as having survived - and boy has it survived - do
have a look! Also, Gary Madrick's YT has now again been paired up with its
line companion YT3286 making yet another pairing in the parade! It will
really be a Red letter day when we manage to get three in a row! Anyway,
for the present, there are now 82
"Y"s on Parade
consisting 38Ys, 23YTs, and 21YBs. Thank you to everyone who has sent in
already - and if you have not already been posted, send in a picture and some
details please, the more the merrier!

Please welcome David Burr with Y 4293 to "Y"s on Parade.
David's car is a "new find", not previously having been known of either to the
MG Car Club Y Type Register, was not recorded in any previously known database.
David, we do hope that you will be able to enjoy some of the Northern Area
events, and please keep in touch with our Northern Area representative, Malcolm
Hardy, who can be emailed from here.
David's car is the 35th Y and the 77th
entry to date. It is always great to welcome new owners, especially where
their car is a "new find". If you still are not showing on "Y"s on Parade,
please contact us and send us your details and a picture (details can be found
on the
"Y"s on Parade page).
Richard Prior has also now sent full details, and photographs of his conversion
of the rear suspension. You can find Richard's full story by selecting

Please welcome Philip White with Y 6774 34th Y,
"Y"s on Parade
bringing the total to 76 entries to date. Philip's unique "claim to fame"
for his Y is that it is the only Y in the world ( probably) with a CD
Player installed; unless you know otherwise! What is unique, or
interesting about your Y? If you have not already done so, please send us
your picture (of the car) and the details requested on the "Y"s on Parade page
and we will be pleased to welcome you and feature your car.

Appointment of
International Regional Representatives
Since the launch of the MG Y
Type Website just over three months ago, we have between us, achieved a site
that can be considered totally International. Y Type owners around the world
have used the site as a forum to exchange information, submit photographs of
their cars and generally continue to promote the MG Y Type. Perhaps the most
exciting aspects of the site is that we have been able to put owners in touch
with each other, sometimes in the same country, we have sourced parts for cars
around the world, the most recent success being Sri Lanka, and we have found a
number of cars not previously known to have survived.
We regard
the development of the website as important and believe that the contributions
being made from Y owners around the world to be key to the success of the site.
In recognition of this the MG Car Club Y Committee have decided to appoint a
number of International Regional Representatives. These ’local’ people will
often have much knowledge that any new Y Type Owner would find invaluable.
Indeed knowing that you can buy tyres from a specific outlet in Canada or the
USA rather than having to import from the UK is something that will probably
only be known on the ‘other side of the pond’
We are
extremely pleased to welcome Alf Luckman of Sydney to become the first of our
International Regional Representatives. Alf is well known to both Y Type Owners
‘Down Under’ and also around the world. Alf had made a significant contribution
to the website to date and has assisted many Y Type restorers with both his
knowledge and enthusiasm. We are grateful to Alf for offering his services but
would once again remind everybody that Alf together with all other members of
the committee are enthusiasts, like yourself, striving to help each other enjoy
their Y Types. Unfortunately most of us have to work as well and therefore
responses to questions asked may not always be answered as quickly as desired.
(David Pelham – MG Car Club Y Register Public Relations).
You can contact Alf from the Contact Us page.
Please also welcome Stephen Randle with Y 0363 as the 33rd Y, and Tom Schulz with YT 2467 as the 22nd YT, to "Y"s on Parade bringing the total to 75 entries to date. We are now well on the way to the 100 so keep them coming please. Tom, if you would like to, can you please send me a paragraph or so to go with your car, that would be great. Please remember when you send your picture to give, if possible, date of first registration, the chassis number, your location, and a paragraph or so about your car.
I am also pleased to tell you that there is a new brochure
available for you on the Reprints and then
Brochures subpage.

Your webmaster cannot count - I have done a recount the other
day to try to see how many Ys, YTs, and YBs we had "on Parade" and I had to
revise the number down from 73 to 72 as I came up with 32 Ys, 21 YTs, and 20 YBs.
If you come up with a different result please let me know - I tried three
times!!
However, I am now pleased to remedy this and increment the Ys by one as we welcome Mike Burden from Australia with Y 2750 to "Y"s on Parade bringing the total back to 73!.
If you are sending us pictures of your car we can handle most graphic image
files. However, please do not embed your photographs in Microsoft Word (or
other packages) as the definition becomes compressed and it is very difficult to
get a good enough "lift" from them to publish your photograph.

Please welcome Slater Reynolds and
Y 0330 to
"Y"s on Parade. Slater has now overtaken Mike
Wright for the position of "Oldest Y on Parade by 38 cars. Slater's car
has been in ownership of the same family since 1957 which probably is some sort
of record too, having belonged to only one previous owner before his mother!

Welcome to August! No real news at this point and
although I am still awaiting a response to some emails, no new Ys on Parade to
announce yet. July was another busy month in which we saw over a dozen new
entries to Ys on Parade bringing the current total to 72! The first 100 is
now in sight and will be a wonderful achievement so to the many of you out there
who still have yet to send in an entry, please do so; for your enjoyment as well
as the many of the rest of us who enjoy looking at other Ys. Indeed, our
thanks go to Geoff Meller of New South Wales, Australia, for sending us in his
picture of his YT 3477 which is currently undergoing a rebuild - he sent us a picture
of his chassis! Nice one Geoff - we liked that!
August also saw us introduce a new line of reprints, this time of old Sales Brochures. Judging by the number of page accesses, you clearly enjoyed this and we shall continue to release these as I get chance to post them so watch the news for further updates on this feature. Ken Jones has identified yet another style of brochure and has kindly agreed to loan it to us for reproduction for your enjoyment too.
Finally, this month's Picture of the Month is one that your Public Relations and Webmaster officers have been waiting to post for ages! It is a super picture of John Lawson and his Y. Although taken some years ago, we are all deeply indebted to John for the way in which he recognised the true value of these cars and blazed a somewhat lonely trail many years ago, and also wrote a marvellous book too. At least, John, now "You are not alone ..." and we thank you for your tireless work and efforts.
Please continue to
enjoY the site.
